Taxes and Fees If we get charged a tax or a fee we charge it to you. Unfortunately we don’t have much say when it comes to the FCC and local, state and federal taxing authorities. Currently, you will see a 10.2% Federal Universal Service Fund tax applied to all services as well as a $1.50 911 fee per phone number and a $1.00 Regulatory Recovery Fee per phone number. While these are subject to change whenever the government decides, these amounts have been consistent for years and they are significantly less than you see on standard phone bills.
Canceling Service from your old provider
It is your responsibility to cancel service from your previous providers. CBV does not cancel services on your behalf and will not assume responsibility for double-billed services.
Remote Call Forwarding (RCF)
RCF is a useful tool in timing a phone transition. CBV recommends the use of RCFs in a move that is happening within 4 weeks because it is the only predictable way for CBV to gain temporary control of your numbers. The drawback is that there will be charges from your existing provider, however this option can minimize your downtime during the transition.
Note: RCF charges vary by carrier, but a reasonable ballpark estimate is a one time $56 server order change charge, a per path (simultaneous inbound call capacity) monthly fee of $20 pre calling path, plus usage at $0.01 - $0.02 per minute. These are just estimates and can vary greatly with each carrier. If you agree to the RCF option, please be aware that your existing carrier will be billing you directly for this service and you will not be able to cancel until CBV completes the porting process, which generally occurs four weeks after the RCF is put into place.
