Auto Attendant is an automated prompt system that
directs callers to a specific department or extension. It is commonly used by
companies to get the caller to the proper place without human intervention. It may be used as an automated
answering service after business hours when no one is available to answer your customer’s calls. Auto
Attendant my pick up automatically or it may pick up after attempting to ring one or several
callers. It can be
customized to meet your company’s specific needs. Configuration Options Dial by Extension Directs to a separate auto attendant that enables users to dial the extension. Normally, you may dial by extension from the main auto attendant. This option is only required if your options conflict with the first digit of the extensions. For example, extensions 1xxx would not work if there is an option 1 for Sales Dial by Name Directs to an automated dial by name controlled by the names on the phones. There are options for first or last name as well as the amount of digits. The caller is then directed to confirmation of the user's name. Dial by Department Directs to a sub auto attendant that would list the department options. Announcement Directs to an announcement. The announcement is recorded with your choice of greeting. It may include hours of operation or directions to the office, or any other company specific information. The announcement can be changed from any phone within the office and an access code. It does not require involvement from Chicago Business VOIP. Ring Internal Number Directs to any one specific number internally. Ring External Number Directs to a designated external number. You may choose to send callers to an outsourced help desk or other specific location. ACD Queue Direct to a pre-defined ACD queue. An ACD queue is often used for call centers. Agents have a designated login button on the phone to be a part of the ring group. Hunt Group Directs to a pre-defined Hunt Group. Setup Example: Thank you for calling Company ABC. For sales, press 1 For customer support, please press 2 For dial by name directory, please press 9. To be connected with the operator, please press 0.
